The Only Reality Is In Your Head, parts 1 and 3; In Paradiso
. . . Perhaps the best place to test your affinity with this music would be the
Sound Gallery compilation. Alongside two pieces by Archer, including part nine in the
88 Enemies sequence, the disc also features compositions by Nick Bizzell-Browning,
Tim Risher, Dal Strutt and Michael Szpakowski. . . . . Risher's trio Paragaté
fashion curious electroacousics from minimal kit (is that Tom DePlonty making percussion sounds
with his styrofoam or shock absorber on The Only Reality . . . ?).

4 by 4, for brass quartet (2 trumpets, horn and bass trombone)
. . . Risher's composition is a must for music educators who come in contact with
advanced high school or college level quartets. It offers a wonderful opportunity to
focus on syncopation and demands accuracy in meter and rhythmic execution.
For the professional quintet, this piece offers potential as repertoire to be
programmed in between those great war horses we already know so well.
