Tim Risher received his BA in Music at the University of Central Florida and his MM in Music Composition from the Florida State University in Tallahassee. During this time his organised the first permanent new music ensemble there, the Tallahassee Camerata. He also founded two further groups in Tallahassee : Paragaté and The New World Music Ensemble, and composed music for these groups, including Songs for the Virgin Mary and Concerto for Wind Ensemble.

Parallel with his work at the university, Tim Risher worked as a producer at National Public Radio for six years. While at NPR he produced two programs - FSU Concert, presenting FSU students and faculty in concert and Radio Diffusions, presenting new music of all kinds.

As a composer, Tim Risher has had many works published and performed throughout the USA and Europe. In 1990 he moved to Germany, living in Hamburg, and he composed works there for several well-known ensembles, including Over and Under (which received its world premiere in London in Wigmore Hall by the Palladian Ensemble, 4 in 1, for recorder, bass gamba and harpsichord and Falling, a work for full wind ensemble. His works have also been presented on many Radio Programs, including St. Paul Sunday Morning (MPR), DLR (Deutschland Radio) and WDR (West-Deutsch Rundfunk). He has composed works for various known performers and groups, including:

He arranged music for the one-man show "Flig mit mir dafon", with the "Wee Sma's" and Bruno Leroc. In 1997 a CD was released in England featuring several pieces of his music, also on the Discus Label.He performed in Raw Material, an artpop ensemble.
His works and arrangements have been published by Wehr's Music House and PRB Productions.

He is currently running the HD Artists Concert House in Second Life.
